Amrum has its own charm in every season. In summer, the wide beach and long, bright evenings beckon. In autumn and winter, the island shows its wild side: the wind howls over the dunes, the North Sea rages – and inside it is all the cosier. Spring brings the salt marshes into bloom, from which our head chef gathers his herbs.
A fair warning: in winter, the bus runs less frequently, and quite a few cafés are closed. Precisely then, the lake view with restaurant, wellness and a warm living room is the perfect anchor for your day on the island.
The Kniepsand
Amrum's greatest attraction is a sandy beach up to two kilometres wide and around ten kilometres long, one of the widest in Europe. There is so much space that it never feels crowded, even on fine days. Ideal for long walks, digging with the children or simply doing nothing.

The Amrum Lighthouse
The island's landmark. From the viewing platform, the view stretches across Amrum, the Wadden Sea and as far as the neighbouring islands and Halligen.
The Meeram Bird Trap
Situated between Nebel and Norddorf, the nature discovery area invites you to explore the island's wildlife – a great destination especially for families.

The historic mill from 1771 now houses a small local history museum about Amrum's history, nature and seafaring.
The Wadden Sea
Around Amrum stretches the UNESCO World Heritage Site. On a guided mudflat hike, you can experience one of the most species-rich habitats in the world up close.
Iron Age House & Nature Centre
Situated right in Norddorf: in the reconstructed Iron Age house you can experience how people lived here around 2,000 years ago, and in the nature centre you can get to know the island's wildlife. Two great destinations for dull days and curious children.

Wind and water
Whether it's a surfing lesson, swimming in the North Sea or a hike through the dunes: Amrum is a playground for anyone who wants to be outdoors.
Practical on-site
You can hire bicycles and e-bikes from the hire shops in Norddorf, and beach chairs directly on the Kniepsand. Reception will be happy to give you the relevant addresses and tips.

Amrum is not an island for a quick weekend trip – and that is precisely its gift. Here, there are no overcrowded promenades and no sensory overload, but rather empty beaches, silent dunes and plenty of sky. Anyone who has been here once knows the feeling: you leave the island fully recharged.
From the Seeblick in Norddorf it is only a few minutes into nature. The rest takes care of itself.
From the front door to the beach
Because the fastest route to happiness is sometimes a handcart: you can hire one from our reception and head straight off towards the Kniepsand. Towel, provisions, kids – load it up and off you go. Welcome to island mode.
